THE WORLD’S LARGEST MOSQUES

Islamic architure encompasses a wide range of both secular and religious styles form the fouindation of  islam to the present day.The mosque  serves as a place where Muslims can come together for (prayer) as well as a center for information,education,and dispute settlement.The grand entryways and tall towers,or minarets,have been long and closely associated with mosquse .However,the first three  masajids were very simple open spaces on the arabian peninsula but in the coming years, Masajid evolved significantly,acquiring their now-distinctive features and adapting to cultures  around the world.
MASJID-AL-HARAM:
The  sacred mosque is the largest in the world.located in the city of  Jeddah,it surrounds the Kaaba,the place which Muslims worldwide turn towards while offering daily prayers and it is Islam’s holiest place.
The current structure covers an area of 356,800 square meters (88.2acres)including the outdoor and indoor praying spaces and can accommodate up to four million Muslim worshippers during the Hajj period.

MASJID-E-NABAWI:
“Mosque of the prophet ”often called  the prophet’s mosque, is a mosque situated in the city of  Medina.as the final resting pace of  the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),it is considered as the second holiest site in islam for muslims. It is the third  largest  mosque in the world  after the  mosque  of   Imam Reza.One of the most  notable features of  the  site is the green  domb  over  the  center  of  the mosque,where the  tomb of  Hazrat Muhamma (PBUH) is locat.The original masjid-e-nabawi  was not very large but today the original exists only as a small portion of  the  larger mosque.


MOSQUE OF IMAM REZA:
Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad,Iran; is a complex which contains the mausoleum of  Imam Reza, the eighth Imam of  Twelver shi ‘ites. It is the second largest mosque  in the world.It also contained within the complex a museum,a library, four seminaries,a cemetery, the Razavi universit of  Islamic sciences a dining halls and  other buildings.


FAISAL MOSQUE:
faisal mosque in Islamabad,Pakistan; is the largest mosque in pakistan  and South Asia. It is one of the largest mosque in the world.Faisal mosque is conceived as the national mosque of the pakistan. It has a covered area of 5000m(54000 sq ft) and has a capacity to     accommodate    approximately 300,000 worshippers.


MASJID- ISTIQLAL:
Masjid istiqlal in Jakarta,Indonesia;is  the largest mosque South east  Asia in terms of  capacity to  accommodate  people and  building  structure,This national  mosque  of  Indonesian  independence,therefore the national mosque of   Indonesia was  named “ISTIQLAK” an arabic  word for “independece”.
